Called «Bosco Verticale» (pp perpendicular forests)
and an advanced model of vertical development of green within the city, enhancing environmental survival of modern European cities.
In particular there are two buildings to be built in the center of Milan (in Isola), a key feature of which is the presence of more than 900 trees, many shrubs and flowers in all apartments. The primary purpose of the architect Stefano Boeri is to address the increased contamination of the city, but also offer better quality of life for residents, optimizing, retrieving and producing energy through plants. The first »Bosco Verticale» will consist of two vertical 'green towers', 110 and 76 meters respectively, while the whole structure will be developed in an area of 50,000 square meters, integrating 60 abandoned farms on the outskirts of town. In developing this vertical garden used a wide variety of plants to create a microclimate and filtering of dust particles contained in the urban environment. In particular Plants absorb CO2 and dust, protect against radiation and noise pollution and generally offer significant improvement in quality of life and energy savings. The irrigation of the plants is mainly reusing dirty water of the building after processed through special filtering system, while the use of wind and photovoltaic energy systems will contribute to greater energy self-sufficiency of the two "towers".
